Compare and Contrast of 2 Same Meals From Different Restaurants
The meals that I have chosen to compare are chicken nuggets, fries, and a small sweet tea for both McDonalds and Chick Fila. First, I will compare the chicken nuggets of both places. At Chick Fila, 8 chicken nuggets has a total of 140 calories, 3 grams of fat with no trans fat and 1 gram of saturated fat, 70 milligrams of cholesterol, 530 milligrams of sodium, 0 grams of fiber, 23 grams of protein, 0% of Vitamin A, and 20% of Vitamin C. At McDonalds, a 6 piece of chicken nuggets has 280 calories with 160 being from fat, 18 grams of fat with 0 grams of trans fat and 3 grams of saturated fat, 40 milligrams of cholesterol, 540 milligrams of sodium, 1 gram of fiber, 13 grams of protein, 0% of Vitamin A, and 2% of Vitamin C. For the chicken nuggets, I can say that Chick Fila has healthier nuggets. They have lower calories, less fat, less sodium, more protein and more Vitamin C. Overall these nuggets are healthier. Even though both are not at 8 nuggets, the ones from McDonalds would only increase in unhealthiness if two more were added to make it 8.
For the fries, I have chosen to pick the small size for both. The waffle fries at Chick Fila have 270 calories and 130 from fat, 14 grams of fat with no grams of trans fat and 2 grams of saturated fat, 0 milligrams of cholesterol, 125 milligrams of sodium, 3 grams of fiber, 3 grams of protein, 0% of Vitamin A and 25% Vitamin C. For a small fry at McDonalds, it has 230 calories and 100 from fat, 11 grams of fat with 2 grams being from saturated fat and 0 grams from trans fat, 0 milligrams of cholesterol, 160 milligrams of sodium, 3 grams of fiber, 3 grams of protein, 0% of Vitamin A, and 8% of Vitamin C. For the fries, I can conclude that McDonalds has better fries, since it has less calories and fat than the other fries, and all of the rest of the objects are almost even.
And for the sweet teas, Chick Fila's sweet tea has 90 calories with 0 being from fat, no fat, 0 milligrams of cholesterol, 5 milligrams of sodium, 0 grams of fiber, 0 grams of protein and 0% of both Vitamin A and C. The sweet tea from McDonalds has 180 calories with 0 being from fat, no fat, 0 milligrams of cholesterol, 10 milligrams of sodium, 0 grams of fiber, 1 gram of protein, and 0% of both Vitamin A and C. From this information, I can determine that Chick Fila has healthier sweet tea because it has less calories and sodium.
All in all though, I have determined that the better meal all together would have to be from Chickfila since it has less calories (normal and from fat) added together, less grams of fat(normal, saturated, and trans), less sodium, more grams of protein, and more grams of Vitamin C. (A more in depth reasoning is on my LiveBinder page.)
Resource Page for Type 2 Diabetes
This is a resource page for people struggling with food disorders that can be related to Type 2 diabetes. Type 2 diabetes is a very serious disease where the body does not produce enough insulin for proper function. There are many symptoms for Type 2 diabetes which include excessive thirst, overactive bladder, numbness in the hands or legs, blurred vision, fatigue, and dry or itchy skin. Although type 1 and Type 2 diabetes have some things in common, about 95% of Americans have Type 2 diabetes while only 5% have Type 1. This is why I am making a resource page for people if they need help. Here will be websites and blogs that can help anyone struggling with managing the food they need to eat to keep insulin in check if affected with this type of diabetes. The list below will supply someone with all of the information they need to follow a healthy diet and live a wonderful lifestyle:
